Here's a little somthing spooky appropriate for this month. I got the idea for this from a movie I saw 3 months ago. There was a really cool scene in which the cinematography was just eerie, moody, and you could feel the atmosphere. That's the feeling I tried to convey in this with the lighting. Inside the car, light from the dash and outside light from the break lights.

The Computer Animation Battle!

The issue of computer animation is a frustrating one for a lot of traditional animators and I can totally understand. One of the most obvious complaints about it is that you totally lose the intuitive sense of drawing! You don't think about how to draw a character when you're animating - you're totally in the moment. However, with computer animation, you have to think about those REALLY STUPID technical details, so as a result you're completely sucked out of the moment! It really is like being behind the glass wishing you could just reach in and grab the pencil and draw/animate the way you envision it! Hence the sketch! Got any comments or questions about this or anything else? Feel free to email anytime.

FQ Pages 9&10

The last 2 pages. It ends with a cliffhanger, of course!

FQ Pages 7&8

FQ Pages 5&6

Again read top image to bottom image on each post, until I figure out how to put the images side by side like a normal comic book.

FQ Pages 3&4

The pages go from top to bottom on each post; top image is page3 and bottom image is page 4.

Freedom Quest Pages!

Here they are! The first 2 pages for the Freedom Quest mini comic book. The lettering was left out on purpose so you can enjoy the art more.

Freedom Quest issue #1 Web Comic!

This is the cover for a mini comic book I did, published by Christian Family Church Intl. in 2006.
I plotted the story and characters and did all the artwork, my wife came up with the title, and the final product was written by Marty Gaines and Jason Gunn.
It tied into the sci-fi pirate theme they have going for their youth group. It was a lot of fun to do, but I wish I had more time to work on it, because the deadline came up quick! Enjoy.

One Page Story!

I LOVE COMIC BOOK ART! This was a one page story I did for the Art 4 GOD national Christian art competition. I think I might color it up later and see if I can add some more mood to it.

Shadow Box

Just wanted to play around with some shadow effects; I like the contrast in this one. Can't go wrong with red, white, & black!

The Other Shoe?

This one started out as a character design for a short story project, but ended up completely in left field. That's what I love about thinking ON paper, the ideas just flow out. I also like the pencil and markers combo; they have a nice finished look.

The Muscle!

Just trying out some new Faber-Castell pens; their line quality is really good and they don't bleed. In the process, I came across this brute.
